Narcissistic Abuse

Narcissistic abuse is one of the worst forms that a person can experience. While physical abuse seems to be obvious at times, narcissistic abuse is emotional and psychological. It changes the chemistry make up of your brain, creating potential for memory loss, it also misaligns your nervous system by producing an abundance of cortisol *.  Long lasting effects of narcissism can vary from person to person but typically you might find that a person who has survived the abuse is proven to have any of the following; anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, and other mood disorders.

This can look like name calling, belittling, gaslighting, criticism, mocking feelings, being ignored, affection being limited or withheld, intimidating behavior used to provoke specific actions, threats of self harm and much more.

While a survivor may leave the relationship, the abuse may haunt them for years to come making it difficult to hold a relationship.

Narcissistic abuse involves brain washing. The survivor, or victim, is brainwashed by the abuser. Often times the person being abused is emotionally battered and believes that the narcissist is their only ally.

Thus, the person being abused will be isolated, or self isolate and become distant from friends and family.

This type of abuse, and others, may lead to physical abuse if the victim tries to get away from the abuser, or begins to recognize that their abuser is displaying narcissism. The goal of the abuser is to have complete control over their victim.

NARCISSIST:

A person that is unable to experience empathy yet feels the need for external validation. This type of person will belittle others in order to make themselves seem superior. They will take over conversations and control situations in attempts to make others feel as though they are inferior to the nacissist. Often times the narcissist will exaggerate their own personal talents, again in an attempt to make others feel inferior as well as make themselves appear or sound better than they are.

*Cortisol*

The chemical that your body naturally creates while being stressed out. High levels of cortisol has been linked to many health problems including but not limited to brain fog, memory problems, mood swings, high blood pressure, weight gain, and cardiovascular issues.
